ACS Interim Director Joe Angelo believes the object is in reach. "We're just delighted. We never thought we'd be here. We knew we'd get there but not this quickly," Angelo said. "I valid want us to pause and remember where we came from because it wasn't long ago where we didn't have much to laud about."

Angelo said ACS ended 2011 saving 32 percent of the animals that came through it's facilities. Since then, the numbers have continued to meet.

"Our first month of the new fiscal year in October, we were at 44 percent. And then November 54 percent, and then December 58 percent," Angelo said.

The rising percentages degraded more animals are being saved and adopted than are being euthanized. Those numbers are expected to climb.
