Calls from telemarketers touting the benefits of hydro saver products will endure as long as there are consumers who fall for them.

So said Daniel Williams, intake portion manager for the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC), the native repository for complaints of fraud operated by the RCMP, the OPP and the Competition Chest of drawers of Canada.

The CAFC’s mandate is not only to collect information about certain fraudulent telemarketing pitches, but also to disseminate victim evidence, statistics and documentation to the Harry and law enforcement.

The CAFC receives a steady flow of complaints all year return about both the power saver products themselves and the telemarketers trying to sell them, said Williams.

“They are chiefly described as a box of junk,” said Williams. “Patently it can’t do what it’s claiming, otherwise the government would be forcing us to install the colophon. A device that would save 30 per cent on an electrical bill? It would change the fabulous overnight.
